We were extremely sorry to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Cairns Amateurs Carnival due to current and anticipated restrictions. It is the first time in 62 years that our beloved carnival has been cancelled and an incredibly sad time for our club and our region.
However, we are delighted that the Cairns Amateurs Cairns Central Virtual FOTF 2020 Competition will be taking place this September! The world certainly needs some colour, joy and glamour right now!
Competition entries open Monday 7th September 2020 at 9am and close Saturday 12th September 2020 at 6pm and will be judged by our renowned fashion judges Em Scodellaro, Neil Carpenter and Carle Rutledge.
Winners will be announced on Wednesday 16th September 2020 at 6pm!
The Cairns Amateurs Racing Carnival is three days of fun, fashion, glamour, food and entertainment built around two days of horse racing in Cairns in early September each year.
What began as a small amateur meeting in 1959, designed to bring city and country together, has expanded over the years to become one of Australia’s premier spring horse racing carnivals. The Far North Queensland Amateur Turf Club has become widely, and affectionately, known as “THE CAIRNS AMATEURS”
62 years on, the Cairns Amateurs is now complemented by a host of social activities, some formal and some very informal including a number of members-only and corporate functions as well as events and areas for the general public on both race days.
The Cairns Amateurs Cairns Central Fashions on the Field is indisputably the pinnacle showcase of racewear in the region.
Our Fashions on the Field competition is a highly-anticipated and hotly contested annual event comprising of local and interstate competitors. Each year, judges well known in the FOTF world and highly regarded for their exceptional individual fashionable style and judgement are chosen to cast expert eyes over the entrants. This truly creates an event of style, contemporary trends and elegance.
